Scouting for Food – We will meet on Saturday November 7th at 9am at the Woodland Presbyterian Church parking lot to pass out bags. We will then meet at 10am on the following Saturday, November 14th to pick up food items. Scouts need to be in field uniform. We need parents to volunteer as drivers for this event.

Veteran’s Day Flags – Scouts will be needed to assist with putting up flags at the Woodland Cemetery on Tuesday, November 11th. We have also been asked to help with the ceremony at the Woodland Court House that morning. Scouts should plan on being at the cemetary by 8am and the Court House by 10:30am in full field uniform.

Merit Badge Saturday – Some of you have not yet turned in your request for Merit Badge Saturday! The event will take place in Winters on Saturday, December 5th. Registration closes on November 14th. Classes fill up quickly! Be sure to turn in your requests ASAP! We still need a couple of adults to volunteer to help out with this event!

Wreath Sales – Don’t forget to get out there and sell your wreaths! Proceeds go to off set your summer camp expenses!

Boards of Review – Be ready for your Board of Review on October 27th with a back up date of November 2nd. Please be in uniform with your Scout handbooks ready to go! If you still need a Scoutmasters Conference be sure to schedule that with one of the adult leaders!

Court of Honor – Our fall Court of Honor will be held on Tuesday, November 17th at 7pm at the Scout Cabin. We are asking each family to bring one dozen cookies to share.

 

Summer Camp – Troop 68 will attend summer camp at Camp Kern’s in 2010. Camp Kern is located on beautiful Huntington Lake just east of Fresno. Our first deposit of $50.00 for summer camp will be due in January!

Trailblazer District Merit Badge Trail Drive – The dates for this event will be February 27th, March 6th and March 20th. If you plan on attending you must attend all 3 days! More information will be announced when it becomes available.

NYLT – National Youth Leadership Training will be held May 14-16 and May 21-23 at Camp Pollock. If you are First Class or above and 13 years of age or older then you should seriously think about attending this incredible leadership course.

Capitol March – We will meet Saturday, October 24th at 7am at the Woodland Elk’s Lodge Parking lot and plan on departing no later than 7:30am. Scouts need to be in full uniform. Please go to the Troop web page and print off your permissions slip for the event. Scouts may want to bring spending money for the Trading Post! Please……for security reasons, leave your pocket knives at home! Be sure to eat breakfast!

Popcorn Sales! Great job Troop! It looks like we sold over $4,000 worth of popcorn!

Catholic ScoutersREGISTER NOW for the Ad Altare Dei Religious Emblem Award weekend retreat October 16th-17th - this is for Scouts who have completed the 6th grade. Scouts will spend a fun filled weekend together working on the requirements for this award. Registration as well as event information is on line at www.gec-bsa.org , just click on event registration. Slots are filling up quickly!

 

Religious Emblem Awards for Other Faiths – If you are interested in learning how you can earn an award for your faith contact the Scoutmaster for assistance.

 

Capitol March – Last chance to sign up with the Troop! The cost is now $30/Scout which includes a catered lunch, commemorative pin, neckerchief, and patch along with other goodies. Entertainment and activities will be going on before and after the march at Raley Field. Registration ends October 2nd!!!

 

Capitol March Trading Post – Souvenir items are available for purchase on the Golden Empire web site www.gec-bsa.org under event registration!

 

Merit Badge Saturday – We will be signing up as a Troop (this is recommended). Please check your email for the registration form and permission slip as well as class information. I would like to have your requests in by October 13th in order to sign up early. Classes fill up quickly! Be sure to fill out the paperwork completely – including alternate classes.

 

Popcorn Sales! Don’t forget to get your popcorn orders! Remember this will go towards summer camp for next year!
