Summer Camp was a huge success! Congratulations to all of you!

Our Troop made Honor Troop, earned 89 merit badges along with some partials.

We should have an incredible Court of Honor the end of August!

Thanks to all the parents who supported us and Thanks to all the Scouts for being such a fine example at camp!

TROOP 68 ROCKS!

Veteran’s Coalition Dinner – A very special THANK YOU to those who came out to help serve for this event – David S., Christopher S., Patrick V., Cameron H., Tim B., Will B., Carson J., Evan J. and Troop 68’s newest Scout…….Jordan D. Everyone did a great job pitching in! The Veteran’s Coalition presented the Troop with a check for $200 for all our hard work.

Rank Advancement – Are you are track? Do you feel like things aren’t moving as quickly as you would like? All Scouts should bring their handbooks to each and every Troop meeting! The Leaders are looking to assist Scouts with rank advancement, but we can’t do it without your handbooks! Our next Court of Honor is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25th. We will be holding Boards of Review August 4th and August 11th. Please do not wait until the last minute to get your Scoutmaster’s conference and/or to look at your requirements for the next rank!

Partial Merit Badges? – Please let the Leaders know if you need help with completing any partial merit badges that you have! We are here to help you succeed!

Parking Assistance at the Yolo County Fair – Scouts will be asked to assist the American Legion with parking. More information will be given at the meeting tonight.

Backpacking Trip in the Caples Lake Region – we will be taking sign ups for the upcoming trip scheduled for August 29-30. If you are interested in going but do not own a backpack, please talk to the Scoutmaster as the Troop few available to loan out.

First Aid Merit Badge – Please get all paperwork turned into the Scoutmaster ASAP!

Popcorn Sales – The Troop will be trying a new approach this year. We will be selling popcorn at Nugget Market on Sunday September 6th and Monday September 7th. See sign up sheet for schedule. All proceeds from this sale will go towards the Troop account. Scout will however earn credit towards awards. We will then be doing “take orders” in October. Proceeds from the “take orders” will be credited towards summer camp.

Catholic Scouters – There will be an Ad Altare Dei Religious Emblem Award weekend retreat October 16th-17th for those Scouts who have completed the 6th grade. Scouts will spend a fun filled weekend together working on the requirements for this award. Please contact the Scoutmaster if you are interested in attending.

Capitol March – We will once again be taking sign ups for the Capital March the first part of August. Don’t forget to sign up for this once in a lifetime event. The cost is now $30/Scout which includes a catered lunch, commemorative pin, neckerchief, patch along with other goodies. Entertainment and activities will be going on before and after the march at Raley Field.

Merit Badge Saturday – Each year the Winters’ Troop holds a Saturday workshop to allow Scouts to work on Merit Badges. Be sure to mark your calendars for December 5th! Sign ups will be taken as soon as the courses/instructors have been lined up. Parent’s if you have a special interest, hobby, etc. and are willing to volunteer your time as a Merit Badge Counselor please let the Scoutmaster know and we can assist you with the paperwork needed to apply.

Veteran’s Coalition Dinner – The Troop has been asked to once again assist with this annual event. We will be asking those who are not attending summer camp to volunteer for this event since those who are going to camp will be leaving at approx. 3-4am! If you are going to summer camp and still want to volunteer for the dinner……..you can! I know some of you look forward to this fabulous steak dinner each year! Scouts will need to be in Field Uniform at the Eagles Hall on Hwy. 16 just west of town at 5:30pm

Summer Camp – Gear must be packed in a duffle bag – NO BACKPACKS! Put your name on everything! Nothing can be attached to the outside of the bag!!! All gear will need to be marked with some type of red marking with CCV written on it. This could be ribbon, tape or luggage tag. Scouts should plan on bringing a “daypack” such as a school backpack to haul their swim gear, merit badge books, pen/pencils, sunscreen, chapstick and water bottle around the camp during the day. Full field uniform (class A) is needed for camp – Scout Shirt, Scout Pants, Scout Shorts, Scout Belt, Scout Socks, Troop Neckerchief, Troop Hat, and Troop Activity Shirt. DON’T FORGET TO GET YOUR MEDICAL FORMS, TALENT RELEASE FORMS AND MERIT BADGE CLASS LIST TURNED IN FOR SUMMER CAMP!!!

MEET AT THE SCOUT CABIN SUNDAY MORNING AT 3:15AM!

WE WILL DEPART WOODLAND BETWEEN 3:30AM AND 3:45AM!

SCOUTS SHOULD BRING A SACK LUNCH AND SNACKS FOR THE TRIP TO CAMP!

YOU MAY TRAVEL IN CASUAL CLOTHES BUT WILL NEED TO PUT ON YOUR FIELD UNIFORM PRIOR TO BOARDING THE FERRY TO CATALINA ISLAND.

BRING A SEALED ENVELOPE WITH YOUR NAME ON THE OUTSIDE WITH $10 FOR A DINNER STOP ON THE WAY HOME! THESE WILL BE HANDED TO THE LEADERS FOR SAFE KEEPING!

DON’T FORGET YOU WILL NEED A COMPLETE UNIFORM FOR SUMMER CAMP!

PRINT OFF YOUR MERIT BADGE CLASS WORKSHEETS AT WWW.MERITBADGE.ORG PRIOR TO CAMP AND BE SURE TO HAVE A MERIT BADGE BOOK OR BORROW ONE FROM THE TROOP! WORKSHEETS CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE TRADING POST FOR $1 EACH.
