Court of Honor – DATE CHANGED!!! In order to allow Scouts more time to complete Boards of Review and to get thru finals at school, the Court of Honor has been postponed until June 9^th!

Pack 166 Bridging Ceremony May 30^th – We will be receiving another Webelos Scout into Troop 68! Bridging ceremony will begin at 2pm at the Scout Cabin. Scouts need to be in Field Uniforms for this event. Let’s have a great turn out for Jace P!

Scout Day at the A’s - We have an opportunity to attend an Oakland A’s game on Scout Day, June 7^th. Tickets will be approx. $18 each. Scouts will receive a special patch and also have an opportunity to be on the field prior to the game! If interested please contact Carlos Villarreal at Carlos.Villarreal@yolocounty.org

Summer Camp – DID YOU MISS THE INFORMATION MEETING? DID YOUR PARENTS MISS THE MEETING? If so please talk with the Scoutmaster to get caught up to date on everything!

Gear must be packed in a duffle bag – NO BACKPACKS! Put your name on everything!

Nothing can be attached to the outside of the bag!!! All gear will need to be marked with some type of red marking with CCV written on it. This could be ribbon, tape or luggage tag. Scouts should plan on bringing a “daypack” such as a school backpack to haul their swim gear, merit badge books, pen/pencils, sunscreen, chapstick and water bottle around the camp during the day. Full field uniform (class A) is needed for camp – Scout Shirt, Scout Pants, Scout Shorts, Scout Belt, Scout Socks, Troop Neckerchief, Troop Hat, and Troop Activity Shirt.

DON’T FORGET TO GET YOUR MEDICAL FORMS TURNED IN!!!

Order of the Arrow members and candidates – Don’t forget to register for the Ordeal! Registration for the Lassen Ordeal is available on line at www.gec-bsa.org under event registration. Current Ordeal members may volunteer as Elangomats and if you are ready………….go for your Brotherhood! Let the Scoutmaster know if you need a ride.

Also – you must be up to date on your membership dues BY THE END OF MAY!!!

First Aid Merit Badge – COMPLETED WORKSHEETS NEED TO BE TURNED IN BY NEXT TUESDAY!!! Scout who still need to have their personal first aid kits checked off need to do so by next Tuesday also! We will be setting up a day for CPR training. This will more than likely be held on a Saturday. Information about this will be available soon!

Congratulations to PJ S., Thomas H., Cameron H., Michael and Steven P. for completing this year’s National Youth Leadership course!

TAMALES – READY FOR PICK-UP THURSDAY BETWEEN 4:30PM-8:30PM!!!!

(9 Scouts sold 114 dozen tamales!!!! Scouts you rock!)

Memorial Day Flags – The American Legion has asked for our help placing flags on Veteran’s graves on Sunday, May 24^th. Scouts will need to be in field uniforms at the Woodland Cemetery located at West and Cross Streets. We will meet there at 8:30am on Sunday to place the small flags. Then on Monday, May 25^th we have been asked to put out the large flags. Scouts will meet in uniform at 7am. We will then meet back at the cemetery at 4pm to take them down.

What to bring to summer camp.

Please mark everything with your name and troop number!

1. Gear bag – duffel type bag. Mark the bag with your name, Troop number and the letters CCV. Please remember to flag it with red material.

2. Sleeping bag

3. Jacket

4. Field Uniform (Class A) – to be worn while traveling to camp

5. Swim trunks and beach towel – pack it were it is easy to get to for swim check

6. Shower towel

7. Toilet kit: toothbrush, paste, soap, chapstick, personal medications, etc.

8. Flashlight – with extra batteries

9. Change of clothes – long pants, shorts, and shirts

10. Underwear

11. Socks

12. Hat

13. Scout handbook

14. Sun Screen

15. Watch

16. Nalgene type water bottle

17. COMPLETED MEDICAL FORM

18. Small personal first aid kit

19. Day pack – large enough to carry a lunch and water for the hike day

20. Hiking shoes

21. Water shoes or sandals (must have for shower and water activities – no open toes allowed!)

22. Pen or pencil, notebook to do merit badge work

What NOT to bring to camp:

1. Weapons

2. Fireworks

3. Valuables

4. Matches or lighters

5. Alcohol or drugs

6. No animals

7. No personal sporting equipment

8. Propane or liquid gas lanterns or stoves

9. Ice chests

10. Tents

11. Tarps or poles

12. No scuba gear

Anyone who brings any of the above listed items is subject to removal from camp at their own expense!

Pack 499 Annual Picnic – Our Troop has been asked to run events for this event. Scouts are helping with this should be at Crawford Park corner College and El Dorado (in Activity uniforms) by 3pm.

Troop Rummage Sale – Our rummage sale was a huge success despite the rain! The Troop took in $1,032. A special thanks to those who came out to volunteer for the event.
