Troop 68 would like to “Welcome “ all of our new Scouts!

Please remember to get your registration paperwork turned in.

Bridging Ceremony – Wednesday, February 25th at Pioneer Elementary School in south Davis. We will need a few Scouts and Adult Leaders to attend to help welcome these young men into T-68. Be sure to be in your Field Uniform. We should meet at the cabin at 6:30pm and carpool over to Davis. We will return at approx. 8:30pm.

Yolo District Camporee – this will be held the last weekend of March. It is in the planning phase at this time, but the theme looks like it will be “Scouting through the Decades!” Our Troop will have the ‘60’s! The location for this event has been changed to a regional park in the Capay Valley!

Summer Camp - Cherry Valley is scheduled for July 12-18, 2009. We will have our next payment of $100/Scout due by March 24th. Please get your payments in on time.

National Youth Leadership Training - If you are 13 years or older and First Class Rank or above then you should consider attending this incredible leadership training course. It will be offered the first and third weekends in May. If you are interested please talk to the Scoutmaster.

February 28th Activities – Wow, all these great opportunities packed into one day!

First off at 9am there will be a huge flag retirement ceremony at the West Plainfield Fire Station which is located on County Road 95 (between County Roads 27-31). Scouts need to be in Field Uniform for this event. If you have any flags to retire please either take them to the event or drop them off ahead of time at a Troop meeting.

We need 3-4 Scouts and 2 Adults to volunteer to serve at the Cabrillo Club dinner. You will need to be in Field Uniform at the Holy Rosary Church Tumilty Hall located next to the church at 301 Walnut Street. Be there at 5:30pm.

Then you are also invited to attend the annual Order of the Arrow Lock-In at Rocknasium in Davis will start at 10pm. Scouts need to come in proper climbing attire (play clothes), bring your sleeping bag and $ for snacks, permission slip and Rocknasium waiver form along with the fee for the overnighter. Classes for the Climbing Merit badge will be offered at this event for a fee. Sign up with the Scoutmaster. Cost for this event is $25/$30 if you are taking the climbing merit badge course.

Court of Honor-DATE CHANGE – We will be having our Court of Honor on Tuesday, March 10th. The change of dates occurred to enable all the new Scouts to complete their requirements for the Scout Badge. Please bring a dessert to share!

First Aid Merit Badge class – A Merit Badge Counselor will be at our Troop meeting on Tuesday, February 24th to begin working with Scouts are their First Aid merit badge. Scouts should bring their own merit badge booklet as the troop library is low and there will be approx. 20 Scouts attending this class! Don’t miss this great opportunity.

March 3rd Court of Honor – We will be having our Court of Honor on Tuesday, March 3rd. Please bring a dessert to share!

Klondike Derby – Congratulations on your 3rd place win in the sledge race! You guys were awesome!

NYLT- National Youth Leadership training will be held May 1-3, and May 15-17 at Camp Pollock. If you are 13 years of age or older and at least a First Class Scout then you should consider attending this very valuable leadership course.
