Annual Dues are NOW DUE!

Please be sure to get your annual dues for the Troop paid up by the end of the month. Dues are $40/Scout and $10/Adult Leader.

National Youth Leadership Training – Great Leadership Training Opportunity! Requirements are that you must be 13 by the starting date of the course and you must be First Class or above. The spring course will be offered May 2-4, May 16-18 at Camp Pollock in Sacramento, and the summer course will be August 11-16 at Camp Lassen just east of Chico in Butte Meadows. Registration for the spring course is available at www.gec-bsa.org click on event registration on the left side. Call the Scoutmaster if you need any further assistance with registration.

 

Camp Chawanakee – June 29th to July 5th. Our next camp payment of $75.00 per Scout will be due in to the Council Office by March 15th. Please plan on making your payment no later than March 11th. All Scouts who sold either popcorn or wreaths should find a statement in their mailbox showing how much credit they have towards camp. Our final camp payment will need to be mailed in 3 weeks prior to the start of camp. The cost of camp this year is $340/Scout (brother discount of -$25.00=$315). Please remember that no Scout will be left behind……….if you are experiencing financial burdens please let the Scoutmaster know.

Also-Don’t forget to get those camp physicals done prior to camp!!! Don’t wait until the last minute!

Don’t forget you can still earn credit towards summer camp by working the annual rummage sale in the spring.

Order of the Arrow Elections – Tonight members of the Order of the Arrow will be at our Troop Meeting for our annual elections. To be eligible for the OA a Scout must be First Class or above and have completed 15 days of camping over the past 2 years. Order of the Arrow is a National Honor Society for Boy Scouts.

Ski Trip to Boreal Sunday, February 24th – We need to have a total of 20 people signed up in order to get the discount. You must sign up no later than Thursday February 21st. Parents are invited!!! Let’s make this a family outing!!! (Poor weather or lack of interest cancels trip!)

 

Summer CampCamp Chawanakee has a tradition of Wacky Tourist Friday! Scouts are encouraged to dress up as Wacky Tourist. Our big day falls on the 4th of July! Start checking the thrift stores for red, white, or blue (any combo) Hawaiian or Patriotic shirts to wear with tacky shorts! We want to be Patriotic Wacky Tourists! Don’t spend a lot of money on this…………….just keep your eye out for a bargain!

Merit Badge Traildrive – This Saturday – February 9th is the final day of the Trailblazer District Traildrive. The classes run from 8:45am to 12:00noon. We will need parents to volunteer to drive. We will meet at the Presbyterian Church on Gibson and County Rd. 98 at 8am on those days in field uniform. Don’t forget to bring any of your required work with you as well as your blue cards!

Pack 499 Bridging Over Ceremony – Tuesday, February 12th we will be receiving new Cub Scouts into the Troop. Scouts will need to be in Field Uniforms and plan to be at the Scout Cabin no later than 6:45pm. We will walk as a group over to the Elk’s Lodge for the ceremony.

Order of the Arrow Elections – Tuesday, February 19th members of the Order of the Arrow will be at our Troop Meeting for our annual elections. To be eligible for the OA a Scout must be First Class or above and have completed 15 days of camping over the past 2 years with one session of 7 days in a row (summer camp).

Boreal Ski Trip – February 23rd-24th is Scout Weekend at Boreal Ski Resort. We will decide at tonight’s meeting to go either Saturday or Sunday. The cost for this trip will be:

Adult - $39 (with rental=$68 ski, $73 board / or with 2 hour lesson and rental $60)

Teen (13-18) - $30 (with rental=$52 ski, $58 board /or with 2 hour lesson and rental $55)

Child (5-12) - $10 (with rental=$25 ski, $30 board / or with 2 hour lesson and rental $50)

Scouts will need to either bring their own lunch or purchase a meal at the resort. Sign ups will be taken until February 19th. All money and permission slips will need to be turned in by that time. Need a copy of the permission slip? Go to www.WoodlandTroop68.org
