Troop Outing to Camp Pahatsi - The Troop has been invited to camp out and help with a service project. Camp Pahatsi suffered from fire damage a few years ago and they are busy rebuilding the camp and have asked for our help getting the place ready for camping in the future. Scouts are asked to bring work gloves, rakes and shovels. We need to get our camp site reserved so please let me know ASAP if you plan on attending.

Board of Review and Court of Honor - THE DATE FOR THE COURT OF HONOR WILL BE ANNOUNCED!!! Sorry about this, but we just discovered that we had planned it for the same night as Back to School night for high school! The next week is the Back to School night for junior high!

Scout Expo at Beale Air Base - This is an exciting event! It will be our own mini Jamboree! Scouts must sign up for this event in advance due to Homeland Security Issues. There will not be any late registrations. Please sign up for this event no later than September 4th.

Congratulations to Patrick V. for completing his
National Youth Leadership Training!

The leadership skills that he learned from this training
will surely help to strengthen our Troop!
Thanks for making the committed to being the best leader you can be!

Rope Making-Knot Tying-Pioneering – Chuck Fleck will be sharing with us the fine art of rope making. We will then work on our knot tying skills and start exploring ideas for our gateway that we will build at the Scout Expo. If you have an idea for a gateway please share it with the Troop!

Board of Review and Court of Honor – Plan on having your Scoutmaster Conference and get in on a Board of Review over the next two weeks in preparation for the Court of Honor on September 11th. Families are asked to bring a dessert to share. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to assist with decorating for this event. Please contact the Scoutmaster if you can help.

Troop Outing to Camp Pahatsi – We have been invited to come up to Camp Pahatsi for the weekend of September 8-9 to help get the camp ready. Please sign up for this event by August 28th. Scouts should bring work gloves, rakes and shovels (be sure your name is on all equipment).

Scout Expo – This is going to be a huge event! They are expecting somewhere between 4,000-5,000 Scouts to attend this event being held at Beale Air Base September 28-30. We will have Webelos from both Pack 130 and 499 joining us for this fun event. Scouts will need to sign up no later than Sept. 4th.

Troop Elections – Start thinking of the office you would like to run for and plan your speeches! Also anyone who is interested in trying out for the position of Troop Bugler should be practicing!

Troop News – The Troop is changing. Ian has completed his rank of Eagle Scout and Taylor is next. Adam, Bob and Bill should all be done by the end of the year and Kris has turned 18. Scouts are encouraged to invite a friend to attend a Troop meeting. Let’s see how many new Scouts we can recruit!

I am wondering if the weekly newsletter is getting read. This is a survey, please contact me by email. By asking this of you I will know if the word is getting out there, if the newsletter is really being read! Is it worth my time and effort to write this up each week or should I just rely on word of mouth and the Troop website?

September Troop Outings – We have two outings scheduled for the month of September. The first will be a campout at Camp Pahatsi September 8-9. We have been invited to help with a service project. They are busy rebuilding the lodge that burnt down three years ago and need the help of Troops to get the camp ready. Scouts should sign up by August 28th for this event. The end of the month will be Scout Expo which is a mini Jamboree that will be held at Beale Air Base September 28-30. You must sign up for this event by September 4th. We will begin wearing our Class A uniforms the night of the Court of Honor and thereafter.

Rope Making, Knot Tying and Pioneering – We will be learning the fine art of rope making. Then if time permits we will work on knot tying and pioneering.
